Let’s tell you our story first. Imagine living in the midst of a big city’s hustle-bustle for the most part of your life. You have all the worldly joys around you, but something seems missing. What your soul truly seeks is solace and peace, and what better place to search for it than in the mountains? Our mother realized this back in the summer of 1995 during a family trip, and urged us to get our own place in the hills where our family could steal some moments of tranquility away from the city noise. Being a housewife, she had spent most of her time tangled in the mundanities of everyday life. She now wanted quietude and calmness, and thus our pursuit of a home in the hills began. We found the property during the trip itself and immediately bought it. It became home to the warmest of memories. Every year, we’d come here for a nice retreat of about 15-20 days, and leave with a fresh perspective.

Unfortunately, our mother passed away in 2016, leaving a vacuum in our lives. In her loving memory, we decided to convert this space into a homestay, a place she would be proud of. In 2019, our only daughter left for Canada to build her own life, and she has found her home there. It’s just the two of us here now, and we are seeking some company to share and enjoy what we’ve built. If you love the mountains, lakes and want to meet new people, we are basically on the same boat. Or, to say it better, could be in the same home.

We have poured our hearts into making ‘The Sage Homestay’ what it is today. We have retained the old feel and architecture of the space and given it a personality of its own. At The Sage Homestay, We are delighted to share that we have been awarded the Gold Category by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, With our hospitality, we ensure you never miss home and have a rich experience that will leave an indelible mark on your memory. Solo travelers, couples, families, friends~we keep our doors open for everyone. We are in our sixties now and intend to live the rest of our lives sharing this beautiful space with others.
